A novel technology of self-recognition for humans
---Ideological aesthetics and application of BRAINSMASTER
Wang De Kun
Each person, whether he is a prince or a common guy, has a noble, inalienable brain, which holds the things that make a person, such as intelligence, thought, spirit, personality, sentiment, and emotion. All of these come from the brain, a wellspring of human intelligence, like Geladandong Snow Mountain -the source of the Yangtze River. The 1990s was the decade of the brain.
The brain is composed of 10 billion nerve cells, an order of magnitude as large as that for stars in the Galaxy. If a nerve cell were a star, the brain would be a biological universe, one that matches the natural universe in its vastness, depth, dignity, and magnificence.
In living humans, the brain cells spontaneously discharge various frequencies of electric impulses, which is a natural characteristic of life. Each brain cell resembles a tiny generator; accordingly, the brain contains more than 10 billion generators, which run incessantly day and night. If these electric activities were collected, the energy suffices to light a bulb of 8 watts, a bulb like a light post that guides the navigation of life. If these electric activities radiated, they would write a moving chapter for each person.
Then, how could we recognize our own brain? This is an imperative question for everyone.
Electroencephalogram gives information about the presence or absence of brain diseases.
A magnification technique is used to amplify the electric activities of brain cells by one million times and record them on the recording paper; thus, electroencephalogram is formed. According to the frequencies of electric discharges by brain cells, electroencephalogram waves are divided into two major categories: normal α(8~13Hz) and β(18~40Hz) waves in adults, and normal θ wave (4~7Hz) in children, or normal δ wave(0.5~3Hz) in infants. If the latter two waves are present in adult EEG, the brain is thought to be diseased. For instance, increased θ waves indicate possible inflammation, while localization of δ waves may suggest space occupying lesions.
Of normal brain waves, α waves account for about 75%, and βfor about 25%. Increased percentages of α waves indicate possible brain ischemia, while elevated percentages of β waves imply anxiety symptoms.
Hence, EEG aims mainly at brain physiology and pathology. It does not deal with human-specific aspects, such as mental status, psychological traits, thinking characteristics, creative talents, and intelligence dominance.
BRAINSMASTER is a novel technology to understand the brain and provides much new information about the brain.
There are no identical individuals in the world. Even identical twins may differ in hair structure, one of levorotation, and the other of dextrorotation. Hence, EEG is difficult to demarcate innumerable human prototypes by merely α,β,θ or δ wave. This situation is caused by epistemological and methodological drawbacks-that is, topical, unitary, irrelevant, static, and postural methods are not enough. In pursuit of neural events, these technologies will mature day by day. However, the principles for these technologies seem extremely frail. Therefore, it is imperative to convert the essential understanding of the brain.
BRAINSMASTER, which is based on chaotic dynamic principles, computing sciences, and nature philosophy, aims at the integrity, relevance, mobility, and process of the brain. Its flow geometrical images perfectly reflect not only the dynamic characteristics of the brain, but also the ancient ideological esthetics of psychological activities.
BRAINSMASTER does not involve the frequency or amplification of brain waves, but deals with the complex varieties organized and constructed by the moving locus of the brain waves. Its significances do not lie in the dichotomy of disease or fitness, normality or abnormality, but in the traits of advanced functions of the brain in an integral scale.
EEG deals with a multitude of patients. However, BRAINSMASTER faces even more numerous healthy people, virtually, almost every individual. “To recognize yourself” is a theme that touches at everyone’s heartstring.
The rules for judging BRAINSMASTER are brand-new, but not complex, which will be clear as soon as you look over them. First the loci should be determined to be single or juxtapositional, circumvolute or locked. Second, you should recognize the complexity, three-dimensionality, rhythmicity, and esthetics of the varieties organized and constructed by overlapping, twisting, tucking, elongation, and tangling during the movement of the loci. Lastly, you should calculate the lattice density, incisal angles, and numbers of juxtapositional line, encircling, twisting, and knots. By recognizing these manifestations, you can know the quality traits and functional states of the brains concerned.
In order to accomplish “self-recognition”, BRAINSMASTER can be categorized into 6 aspects. According to the integral images, BRAINSMASTER can be categorized into 9 types, including simple and complex ones. According to dynamics, it can be categorized into 8 types, including tension vs relaxation, smoothness vs closure. According to ideological esthetics, it can be categorized into 8 types, including taiji and lotus. According to psychological characters, it can be categorized into 8 types, including vigor and quietness. Here are several examples.
1. A high school graduate, who is familiar with English and Japanese and is fond of sports, and once acted as the second relayer of volleyball. She is lively and restless, like making friends, and has an outwards personality. She shows high adaptability, and capability of self-control and self-organization. She is aggressive and striving to succeed. She is now a college student of Waseda University of Japan. Fig 1 is her BRAINSMASTER when she worked on a given thinking exercise. The characteristics of the figure are dense juxtaposition, repetitive overlapping, distortion, tucking, and twists of loci. These make the figure have strong three-dimensionality and rhythmicity. Fig 2 was taken when she rested. The figure seems relaxing, with single locus covering the whole figure, and a tetragonum formed at the center, with relaxed complexity, three-dimensionality, or rhythmicity. This is a complex brain with creative thinking abilities.
2. Another high school graduate of inward personality, who does not like to make friends, but is apt at financial and household management. She is not acute and clever, but masters the principle of being slow, but being first. Hence, she can attain the goals through endeavors. Fig 3 is her BRAINSMASTER when she worked on a given thinking exercise. The pattern is composed mainly of slow spiral loci, with only two knots at the center. The figure is not enough in three-dimensionality, rhythmicity, or complexity. Fig 2 was taken when she rested. Four loci are tightly locked at an ellipse, and no variety is formed. This is a simple, tense brain, which is strong in norm thinking but weak at creative one.
3. A world-renowned scholar with great achievements, who is apt at speaking and writing. Fig. 5 is his BRAINSMASTER when he worked on a given thinking exercise. The figure reflects a self-organized esthetics of complexity, with novel variety of strong three-dimensionality. Locus movement forms an obvious bell-mouth open outwards and a deep tunnel, hence vividly linking the biological universe of the brain with the natural one. The figure responds to brain characters of strong concrete and inspiration thinking, manifesting rich ideality and passion cues. Fig 6 was taken when he rested. The locus spirals slowly and incessantly, but resorts to the central spot, forming a lotus at the center. Lotus is not only of aesthetic significance, but also of philosophical implications. It is a recognized prototype, and is an expression of ultimate integration of internal spirit. Maybe, the lotus is his self.
4. A Japanese doctor of physical sciences and project director. He indulges in working and learning with strong desire to create. He is healthy and fond of field motorcycle riding. He is of inward personality and not good at talking. Fig 5 is his BRAINSMASTER when he rested. At the center is a virtual lotus. Each closed curve has 152 crossing points, and some of the curves are split twice. Loci form 4 knots when they return to the back, providing a three-dimensional, hollow garland. His brain quality, intelligence, and working state are so distinct, graceful, and moving.
5. A life-cultivator. His BRAINSMASTER seems like a rational taiji figure (Fig 9). The loci circle in a ∞ pattern incessantly, ultimately drawing vivid double fishes. The fish has head, gill, eye, mouth, body, and scales. The two eyes look like water drops, one big, and the other little, implying Yin and Yang, with infinity at the center. Two fishes link to each other head to tail, conforming to the nature philosophy that all things have its own Yin and Yang.
6. A famous athlete and world champion. Her elliptical BRAINSMASTER (Fig 10) is covered with dense rectangular lattices, with the central variety as acute rectangles. The figure is clearly stratified in apparent order. The esthetic index is 0.653. The figure represents the oriental cultural trait of thinking flexibly but acting rigidly. Round curves contain squares, rigid in the center and soft in the outer. There is both dependent personality and conformation to the outside. Round complements square, while Confucius complements Taoism, composing the mainstream of Chinese traditional culture
Application ranges of BRAINSMASTER
BRAINSMASTER aims at the goal that everyone merits himself by finding talents early, fostering talents fully, and using talents properly. After all, human is the subject of social improvement.
- Recognition of brain function of preschool or school children
To analyze the dynamic characteristics of children’s brain so as to set up curriculum and to promote talent fostering. Some talented children with supernormal intelligence will emerge from such analyses.
- Recognition of brain function of high school and college students
To analyze the students’ brain dynamic characteristics so as to reflect their thought, mood, temperament, and reaction traits. Undoubtedly, this will be of referring significance in entering a higher school, subject and school choosing. The probability of being a talent will increase if the dominance of the brain is utilized; otherwise, this situation will go the other direction.
3. Professional choosing
BRAINSMASTER is of special interest for professional choosing. It will be useful in selecting students for “mathematics Olympic competition”, professional athletes, pilots for aviation schools, and skilled workers for occupation school. Special talents must have special figures; this is true for almost every case.
4. Allocation and self-recommendation of employees of enterprises
Appropriate use of employees is critical for the success of a course. Persons with integrated talents are appropriate for decision-making; persons with ingenuity are used to lead a project group; persons conforming to norms are better for management of confidential and important matters; reliable persons are fit for actual manipulations. If everyone merits his best, a course may progress dramatically and persons will contribute to the course most.
5. Self-awareness of life-cultivators.
Ideological esthetics of BRAINSMASTER creates solid and vivid expression of self-awareness for life-cultivators. It also confirms significant substantiality and expression of mental activities.
6. Researches on mentally retarded children and intelligence decrease in the elderly
BRAINSMASTER and related AM apparatus of brain-heart coupled brain kinetic energy lend vigorous support to intelligence judgment and enhancement.
7. Study of schizophrenia and mental transformation
The goal of physicians and psychologists is to arouse the patient’s transformation to normal life. Self-awareness analysis of BRAINSMASTER and related treatments are beneficial for the patients.
8. Researches on criminal’s personality characteristics
It is the brain that commits crimes. The dynamic process of BRAINSMASTER of criminals is narrow and blocked. This is useful for prevention of crime and education of criminals.
BRAINSMASTER provides a clear expression of the advanced functional traits of the brain, such as spirit, consciousness, and mental activity through solid, direct, and exquisite flow geometric figures. This method has been widely used to test and evaluate young children, students of primary, secondary schools, and colleges, graduates, intellectual youth, teachers, specialist, scholars, pilots, athletes, telegraphers, world champions of ball sports, and relevant patients. The invention of BRAINSMASTER opens a novel avenue to testing and evaluation of talents. This research finding was first used to select talents for the reserve forces of China’s Women Volleyball Team---Team Hope and to test and evaluate students for the supernormal class of No. 8 Middle School of Beijing. BRAINSMASTER was believed to consummate and improve in the Decade of the Brain. |
